The Epsilon Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Order continues to serve as one of the most prominent chapters in the nation. As back-to-back winners of the 2006 and 2007 Samuel Z. Ammen Award for Chapter Excellence, we know what it takes to succeed. Commitment to excellence in the areas of community service, scholarship, philanthropy, brotherhood, and social feeling proves to be the determining factor in the longevity and strength of our chapter.
The chapter utilized the spring semester as one to focus mainly on community service, fundraising, and brotherhood. We participated in a number of Habitat for Humanity events to help build and repair houses for those less fortunate that we are. A number of fundraising events, including the annual See-Saw-A-Thon, helped raise close to $5,000 for our national philanthropy, the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A trip to Lexington, VA to visit Washington & Lee University, Lee Chapel, and VMI were among some of the many events that took place this semester that helped promote positive brotherhood.
Going forward, we seek to improve areas of our growth and development such as alumni relations. The alumni of our chapter have the experience and stability to know what’s best for the future of this organization. An alumni golf event and alumni pig pickin’ in the upcoming months should help reestablish that bond between the actives and our alumni. One of our many goals is to start an Alumni Chapter here at UNC Charlotte. With dedicated alumni and hard work from our current members, we know this will be made possible in a short time to come.
